I was raised with the belief that it is better to give than to receive. As a child of an adopted father, I grew up hearing stories about how important my dad's family was to him and how different his life could have turned out had he not been adopted by loving parents. I also had the luxury of having my grandfather's influence in my life as he has always lived with us too. Last year, while visiting a senior living center, I was saddened by the loneliness I sensed among some of the residents, especially those whom did not appear to have strong relationships outside of the living center. Therefore, in an effort to help senior citizens create the same type of loving connection that I experience with my grandfather on a daily basis, I worked with a small group of like minded leaders in our community to launch the Adopt A Senior Citizen program. I sincerely hope that you will join me in support of this amazing generation as we work hard to let them know that they still matter.
